Dave the Fish’s Invitation Match.

Well today is the start of a three day trip to Rolf's Lake, which is just my second trip out fishing of this year. First up is Dave Collier's Invitation Match today which will be followed by the Maggotdrowning.com Pairs Match on Saturday and Sunday. Webbo had driven down from Leeds on Thursday night to pick me up, so after a good nights sleep the Hi-Lux was loaded up by 7am and the course was set for Rolf's Lake via Battersea for a breakfast stop. With that taken care of the rest of the trip was uneventful and we rolled into the car park just after 10·30am having stopped off at ASDA to pick up some supplies.


First things first and with welcomes and greetings out of the way we unloaded the kit and pitched our bivvies which would be home for the weekend ahead. Banter of course turned to the prospects for the next 3 days and with the weather promising a scorcher for the 3 days ahead nobody was really sure what lay ahead.


Just before midday Dave called everyone to order and got on with the draw. Peg 28 on the car park bank was my draw for today and I was reasonably happy with that as at least it would be shaded by the trees later in the day while most would be roasting in the full glare of the sun for the whole match.


It also meant a nice short walk and plenty of time to set up as we were fishing from 1·30 to 6·30pm.
